What is a Sunday Reset?
There is something beautiful and holy about Sunday.
The week is behind you. The next one hasn't started yet. And right here, in this quiet in-between space, there is an invitation — to slow down, to tend to your home and your heart, to sit with the Lord before the rush begins again.
That's what the Sunday Reset is all about.
Before you turn around and think "Jesus is not for me", just wait! I would love for you to stay. We all know what it's like to start the week being frazzled, rushed, and anxious. I started off the early years of my career with the Sunday scaries. Every Sunday night, I would anxiously prepare for the week ahead of me. There would be unfolded clothes all over my bed, papers to grade as a beginning teacher, and lesson plans that I had yet to organize. I loved spending time at church in the morning and eating dinner with my family, but my day always ended with me feeling scattered and unprepared for the week.
It wasn't until I intentionally decided to practice the Sabbath and keep this day holy, that I truly experienced rhythms of God's peace. I remember tossing and turning in bed one night and I heard God whispering, "easy yoke" to me over and over again. I opened my Bible and read Matthew 11: 28-29.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Jesus INVITES us to rest in him. He doesn't expect us to to be perfect or have everything sorted out. Jesus even invites the exhausted and burnt out people to come near him. We can learn to take on his easy yoke and find rest for our souls. He is safe, he is gentle, and he cares for you.
A Sunday reset is not a perfect cleaning routine. It's not an aesthetic trend. It's an act of love — toward Jesus, your family, and your home. It's choosing, week after week, to begin again with intention and with grace.
A Sunday Reset is all about starting the week internally and externally refreshed. This is a space where we can slow down and start our week off with the presence of Jesus.
A Note on Sabbath
In a world that glorifies the hustle, choosing to rest on a Sunday feels almost countercultural.
But Sabbath was not an afterthought. It was built into creation by God Himself — a gift, a rhythm, a holy pause woven into the fabric of every week. Not a day to catch up. A day to stop. To worship. To be present with the people you love. To remember that your worth is not found in your productivity.
God even commanded His people to honor the Sabbath as the 4th commandment. Exodus 20:8-10 states: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God" (Exodus 20:8-10).
I am not a theologian. I am just a woman who has experienced the difference between a week that begins from rest and a week that begins from exhaustion. I know what it feels like to experience the toll that busyness takes on your physical and mental health.
The Sunday Reset is not about earning your week. It's about receiving it — with open hands and a grateful heart.
